Prometheus: Knowledge and Innovation
The second of the four avatars presented in London. (Prometheus represents Summer)
Who dares approach the fire of the gods?
I sense the seekers of light, driven by ambition they cannot contain.
They come, heedless of the eagle's torment that was mine to bear—
All so they can understand.
They must know that such fire brings light but also pain.
Yet, they accept this as life—the price of warmth.
Will they pay the cost of hubris?
If they are to be as gods, they had better get good at it.
What do they bring in exchange for this gift?
Their inspiration, their reflection, their toil?
I can smell the iron in their resolve, which quickens as they approach the flame.
What will they do if the flame consumes them?
They would burn in the catastrophe they create, willing to become my burnt offering.
And if, in their fervor, they make the gods jealous?
May their livers be a feast to raptors.
YET, what if the worlds they build are sublime?
They will make room for gods, men, and ecosystems—
Acknowledging all as part of the All.
Then let them take the flame, but they must beware.
They accept its power—and, with it, their destiny.
