Philosophy and Science are most definitely siblings. Faith is their mother, and History their father. Fiction? I think maybe that's their eccentric uncle who makes family reunions more lively...
The "trial separation" (it's not a finalized divorce just yet, thankfully) between philosophy and science seems akin to the middle ages' cleaving of faith and works, which I think led to the unmooring of theology and philosophy from each other.
It's ridiculous to me to consider how we go about developing deeper and deeper wisdom (philosophy) separate from where we think the highest wisdom is located (theology). Deliberate, intentional pursuit ("faith") is fundamentally an action assumed to be good ("works"). How it was ever thought to be intelligent and virtuous to split all of these atoms and take sides in these false dichotomies, baffles me.

Love it! Now I really want to play around with Faith and History as mom and dad.
